Pickmeup is one of the leading taxi service company in Nigeria, providing a reliable and safe journey in various cities at affordable rates. Specially designed mobile applications for drivers lets them pick up passengers and to earn an income. Meanwhile, the passengers can book trips instantly and automate their payments for a tension-free trip.
The client wanted a taxi booking application with separate driver and passenger applications. The app should be easy to use for both the driver as well as the passenger. As Majority of the people rely on Keke for local transport in Nigerian cities, our Client wanted a Keke booking platform. The requirement was to create an application on both Android and IOS platforms along with a basic frontend website. The client was specific that the app should facilitate both online and offline payment.
The main challenge of the taxi booking application was to set up the payment system. It was a challenge to implement Paystack integration and to manage the commission for online/offline payments. The app also requires country-specific SMS gateway integrations. Another basic feature for the taxi application was live tracking of the passenger and driver location, for which Google/iOS navigation systems needed to be integrated.
We have implemented a platform which accepts both Keke and taxi as the vehicle type according to the wish of the customer. We have also implemented two payment methods, one is offline payment via cash, and the other is Payment via Paystack. The customers can choose the payment method before the ride.
